He made us laugh for decades straight from our television screens, and also made us feel heartbreak and emotion in his films. Robin Williams was one of the greatest actors of cinema history, winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1998 for his renowned role in Good Will Hunting as Professor Sean Maguire. When he passed away in August of 2014, we lost someone that meant something to each and every one of us, forever making us yearn to see his cracking smile and whimsical laugh once more.
However, he left us behind some words of wisdom that we’ve shared with you.
“You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.”
“Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves?”
“I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel alone.”
“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”
“What’s right is what’s left if you do everything else wrong.”
“But only in their dreams can men be truly free. It was always thus and always thus will be.”
“I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy. Because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anybody else to feel like that.”
“Please, don’t worry so much… Because in the end none of us have very long on this earth”
“You will have bad times, but they will always wake you up to the stuff you weren’t paying attention to.”
-Robin Williams, 1951-2014.
