Ruby Rose Addresses Recent Hateful Comments About Her Acne And Her Body

Thirty-one-year-old actress Ruby Rose is best known for her role in the hit series Orange Is The New Black, but she has recently landed a role in the comedy sequel Pitch Perfect 3. The Australian actress and model attended the Australian premiere of Pitch Perfect 3, but instead of focusing on the movie, some reporters decided to focus on her acne and weight in their coverage of the red carpet event. This prompted the Melbourne-born to speak out against tabloids and how they spread misinformation.

The Australian who has also tried her hand at making music and DJ-ing posted a series of photos on Instagram stories sharing the reason behind her acne breakouts:

“Yeah it sucks.. for me, I don’t see how it’s bothering so many others? But I’m a human. It happens.. one side of my face is clear and the other is a mess. Dermatologist says it’s from the bacteria from all the phone interviews I did for PP3 and a reaction to hotel pillowcases (which I already know)…”

Ruby was frustrated and disappointed that the tabloids focused on her physical appearance instead of her performance in the movie.

She wrote, “This acne belongs to me, not them, and you are welcome to it. I never thought I’d see the day I’d leave my beautiful country bawling my eyes out… when I was so excited to come home.”

The Pitch Perfect 3 star also addressed the articles that spread photos of her “too thin” body and the supposed fan reaction around it, compiled from random comments on Instagram.

“Instead of the dozens of photos of me from behind they run only 1 photo to fit their narrative,” she wrote.

The 31-year-old was supposed to have a fun night with her mother at the Pitch Perfect premiere. Instead, she left her homeland in tears and disappointment. She also added that certain papers stick to those particular photos just to sell more.

Rose explained the reason she looks thin in the photos is that they were taken at a certain angle, plus a spinal curvature she has from a car accident

The 31-year-old Australian claims some of the media were spreading misinformation which she says have nothing to do with how she looks:

“Their RECKLESS, DANGEROUS, UNEDUCATED ‘writers’ put people at risk in doing so, they are not ‘concerned’ they are giddy with how many ways they can spin this to get clicks. They don’t care that they are using a term like anorexia as if it ISN’T A SERIOUS AND DEADLY ILLNESS.

They are not just lazy but I don’t know how they sleep at night.”

Next, Ruby Rose is set to appear in the upcoming science fiction action horror The Meg, alongside Jason Statham. The movie, directed by Jon Turteltaub is based on the 1997 science fiction book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten and is set to premiere in August 2018.
