Lake Michigan Freezes Over And The Photos Are Beyond Spectacular

Some parts of America are suffering unusual weather conditions these days, as the temperature has dropped as low as -40C. A “polar vortex”, has struck Chicago as well, encasing much of the country in ice and snow. The average temperature in ‘Windy City’ is hovering around -17C, making it the second coldest day in 150 years.

However, there is beauty on ice as well. People have been sharing on social media stunning photographies of Lake Michigan completely encased in layers of thick ice.

The city is coping with record-setting low temperatures lately and more than a thousand flights have been canceled.  Also, schools and businesses have been closed and according to ‘Independent’ locals have been warned “not to breathe deeply” outside and check after their neighbors.

Although the freezing temperatures have disrupted life for so many, people can’t help and share on social media some thoughts about the mesmerizing effect that ice gave to Michigan Lake:

In some pictures is seen even the fog, known as “boiling cauldron” effect which is created when freezing air is in contact with water.
