Do This Sugar Detox For Just 3 Days And Feel Much Better

Admit it. We all eat way too much sugar over the holidays. I mean, how can you resist those delicious ginger cookies or the chocolate cake?

There is sugar in packaged drinks, salad dressings and flavored yogurts. And while a moderate consumption poses no health risk, eating to0 much sugar can cause harm to your health.

When you consume too much sugar a sugar overdose might happen.  This will result in very high blood sugar, shortly followed by very low blood sugar, which in turn will cause fatigue, nausea, weakness, and hunger. It might also cause diabetes and heart disease.

Eating too much sugar also leads to weight gain. Sugar is a carbohydrate and too many carbs can lead to weight gain. The body will convert the sugar to energy, but also any extra will be converted to fat especially around the waist, hips, and thighs.

Giving up sugar is not easy, and it’s even harder when you do it all of the sudden. Like any other addiction, it will cause withdrawal symptoms such as sadness and headaches and if you eat something sweet you will feel better but will put you back at square one of quitting this habit. Try to cope with these symptoms and soon you will be on your way to kicking this addiction.

Day one

For breakfast eat one cup of steel cut oats with berries.

A mid-morning snack should be a few nuts.

For lunch eat a poached chicken breast with vegetables such as butternut squash, carrots, beets, parsnips, turnips, beans, and almonds.

For dinner, a broiled fish or salmon with stir-fried broccoli and mushrooms.

Day two

For breakfast eat three scrambled eggs with sautéed spinach.

A mid-morning snack should be a few nuts.

For lunch, eat grilled zucchini with red and yellow peppers and a dressing of lemon, vinegar, and thyme. Or if you prefer -A shredded green and red cabbage salad tossed with shredded carrots, with a dressing made of olive oil lemon juice and salt.

For dinner eat steamed green vegetables of your choice with a vegetable casserole and bean soup or if you want baked cod with stir-fried bok choy and roasted Brussels sprouts and turnips

Day three

For breakfast three scrambled eggs with shrimp and a sautéed kale, radish and walnut salad.

A mid-morning snack should be a few nuts.

For lunch, pan-roasted chicken thighs with rosemary, sage and lemon or if you want oven-roasted chicken with onion, black olives, and thyme.

For dinner, mushroom heads with a broth of garlic, onion, carrots, celery, thyme and bay leaves or penne pasta (made of brown rice) with a mushroom, basil and tomato meat sauce.

You also need to eliminate drinking sugary drinks and exchange them with detox water in which you will add some fresh fruit. Drink unsweetened green tea and just one cup of unsweetened black coffee daily.

Things to remember

Drink plenty of water, don’t use artificial sweeteners, replace white bread with whole wheat bread, cook with virgin olive oil and consume 2 ounces of nuts and seeds every day.
After you successfully complete this three-day detox plan, you will have significantly curbed your sugar dependence.
