After a lot of teasing, fan speculation, and built-up anticipation, Taylor Swift has finally released her new single “ME!” featuring Brendon Urie from Panic! at the Disco.
The new song is the first music released from the singer since 2017’s “Reputation.”
And it is a bop!
Swift had announced the song during the 2019 NFL Draft with Robin Roberts, explaining that it is “a song about embracing your individuality and owning it.”
She continued: “I think that with a pop song, we have the ability to get a song stuck in people’s heads, and I just want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves.”
Shortly before the song was released, she dropped one last hint in the form of a picture where she is seen posing in front of a mural featuring a large colorful butterfly and the word “ME!”
“So… @kelseymontagueart helped me pull off the best surprise clue reveal today in Nashville!!” she captioned the image. “Thank you to everyone who showed up, I’ve never been more proud of your FBI level detective skills.”

“You’re the only one of you/ Baby, that’s the fun of you/ And I promise that nobody’s gonna love you like me,” go some of the lyrics of the catchy, fun tune – and it even features Swift speaking French!
She’d previously teased the date 4.26 but not divulged information about what it could mean – though it wasn’t that hard to guess it is probably new music. She had teased the date exactly 13 days prior, since we all know that’s the pop star’s lucky number, and a countdown has been ticking away in her official website all along.
Even though the biggest guess from her fans was that new music was coming, theories that she could be marrying her new beau Joe Alwyn (!) or releasing new merch were also going around.
The video’s color-scheme was all about pastels and florals and is reminiscent of Alice In Wonderland and Mary Poppins – there’s also a snake which bursts into butterflies. It goes in line with the promotional pictures she has teased lately on her Instagram.
I think we are all super excited about what next is in store from Taylor Swift!
