Here Are 5 Brilliant Ways Of Temporarily Dyeing Your Hair

The spookiness is just around the corner, and, we’re all loving it. I mean, it might be scary and everything but at least we don’t have to cry and be sad because we’re celebrating alone, being single. No, no, Halloween doesn’t have that. This is a thing of Valentine’s day, New Year’s Eve, seeing people celebrating anniversaries, or simply holding hands while running errands. Halloween gives us the opportunity to be as creative as we want to. The costumes look absolutely gorgeous with Halloween makeup, but the thing that brings the whole look together is the hairstyle. Sure, you can go for a wig, which is definitely the least permanent choice, but there are some semi-permanent hair-coloring ideas you can try out. Meri Kate O’Connor of Eva Scrivo Salon has some of the best picks and solutions for you.

1. Hair Mascara

Yes, the ’90 trend might have a comeback. It’s a temporary color which you apply directly to your hair. As you add layers to it, it gives you a brighter and vivid color. However, if you want a subtle look, simply add thin streaks of color. It lasts for about 1-2 washes and here is what it looks like:

2. Hair Chalk

Well, I believe we are all familiar with this, right? With the help of hair chalk, you can drastically change your look without much commitment. Wet your hair and divide it into sections before running the chalk down your hair strands. It lasts for 2 to 4 washes but if your hair is super light, it may last longer. O’Connor warns:

The darker the temporary color, and the lighter the hair, the longer it will take the color to wash out.

Here’s what it look like:

3. Colored Hairspray

Well, the name says it all. It’s a hairspray that has added color. It is a temporary technique but you have to keep in mind the overall structure of your hair because the lighter the hair, the more permanent the color is.  O’Connor said:

I once had a platinum blonde who used black hairspray for Halloween, and she had to wash her hair with dish soap every day for two weeks to remove the color.

It lasts for 2 to 4 washes and it looks like this:

4. Semi-Permanent Hair Dye

There are semi-permanent hair dyes that last a little longer than hair chalk, hair mascara, and hairspray. However, they won’t be bright and vivid for a long time. O’Connor explains:

Semi-permanent hair dye has no ammonia content, so it sits on the outside of the hair cuticle and acts as a stain.

It lasts from 4 to 12 shampoos and here is what it looks like:

5. Demi-Permanent

This one is stronger than semi-permanent hair colors. It’s a color that will last longer and look vivid throughout a whole month. O’Connor says:

Demi-permanent dyes contain ammonia, allowing them to last longer and penetrate a little deeper into the hair cuticle.

It lasts for around 12 to 28 washes and this s what it looks like:
