Let us all be honest, when early morning comes and alarm clock rings, no matter how many exciting things we’re looking forward to doing during the day, probably all of us would want to postpone our sleep for some more minutes or hours if possible. Well, yes! How can one leave so easily that cozy blanket and warm snuggle? That’s just too hard of a separation.
However, a 49-year-old artist named Pascale Sellick, who describes herself as a ‘rude, crude, spectacular exhibitionist’ – has taken her love for a duvet to an extreme level. She plans to marry it.
Sellick called the wide public to witness the lavish ceremony of knot tying with her bedtime companion.
She described her relationship with her duvet as the ‘most intimate and reliable relationship’ she’s ever had’. Intimate, really? How about the ceremony, will there be any? Yes, the unusual ceremony will be held at Rougemont Gardens in Exeter, Devon, on Sunday 10 February at 2 pm.
Sellick described her love for her duvet like this:
I love my duvet so much I would like to invite people to witness my union with the most constant, comforting companion in my life. There will be music and a ceremony; laughs and entertainment.
To help her organize the wedding day, Pascale has recruited even a wedding planner. Anna Fitzgerald, of WooHoo Art Events, commented on this unusual event saying:
This is the most out-there art happening to date. I’m really pleased to be involved. Valentine’s day can be depressing for lots of people so hopefully, this will lift peoples’ spirits. It would be wonderful if folks could shake off their English reserve and rock up in their sleepwear for a bit of light-hearted frivolity.”
Arts? Who knows, maybe this is just another project of contemporary art!
