Workman Smashes The Doors Of A Newly Built Hotel After ‘Not Being Paid’

A video of a workman smashing into the hotel doors in Liverpool Innovation Park was spread all over the internet, reportedly it happened because of a dispute over wages. The footage shared on social media showed a man destroying the reception area of a new Travelodge hotel in Liverpool. According to The Guardian, Samuel White, a ceiling fixer commented on the case saying:

The handover was today, everything completed, we’d put the last tile in, cleaned up and made sure everything was perfect. Then some idiot in a mini digger decided to drive through the middle of the building.

White also said the destruction went on for “a good 20 or 30 minutes” and it happened around 3 pm. Although nothing is verified yet, it is reported that the driver was angry over a pay dispute involving £600. This because a voice can be heard in the footage screaming: “That’s what happens when people don’t pay their wages. If you’d just paid me my f***ing £600″.

White added further:

There were loads of workers outside all gobsmacked, jaws to the floor wondering what’s going on. The site manager was running around like a headless chicken; he wasn’t happy at all.

The police came into the area after 3 pm and said that the driver had already left on foot in the direction of Edge Lane. One of the force spokesmen said:

A man has since been located and will be interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. One man experienced eye irritation due to exposure to diesel and was treated at the scene by North West ambulance service. It is not believed anyone else was injured during the incident. Merseyside fire and rescue services and contractors attended to ensure the site was safe.

The video was posted on Twitter and it has garnered over 4,000 retweets and 11,000 likes. Some even supported the alleged worker with one saying: “And it’s right as well mate. All the larger contractors are at it along with the developers who constantly string smaller subbies along before paying them.”
