Take A Peek-A-Boo At These Horrifically Gruesome Zombie Teddy Bears

Nowadays, Halloween is a day of activities like festive gatherings, trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, and donning costumes and scary or not makeup looks. But, not always was it like this.

2,000 years ago, for Celts, Halloween marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark and cold winter. This time was often associated with human death. On 31st of October, Celts celebrated the festival of Samhain, when the border between two worlds (the living and the dead) would be blurred. So, they considered this day a time when the souls of the dead and supernatural beings would come back from their realm. For this purpose, scary costumes and jack-o’-lanterns were used to ward off evil spirits.

However, nowadays the reason behind Halloween celebration has changed. The most common reason to use scary looks and gruesome decorations is for aesthetic purposes and to ‘scare’ living people. Or perhaps, to scare off our own demons.

From jack-o’-lanterns and scary costumes, people also use cuddly teddies and transform them into feeding-on-brains zombies. But, no worries! It won’t bite if you are brainless.

So, if you are looking for a whimsical Halloween celebration and are searching for the most gruesome and creepiest things to add to your house, you have come to the right place.

There is this artist from the UK, Philip Blackman, who turns teddies into his surname. All black and scary! He lives in Suffolk with his fiancée and two baby boys.

He has a unique and very popular store, where adorable teddy bears will look totally different from what you remember. Unusual, brain-eaters, covered in blood, with parts of their bodies missing, sound creepier than you may imagine. Some of them have all their intestines out, others have torn their heart out, whereas many have been hit with an ax, thus splitting their skull and exposing their brain. Well, you can stop imagining now, and witness with your own eyes the ‘infected’ teddies.

Each teddy is painstakingly made with individually custom-sculpted parts and hand-painted for a unique, grisly finish. So, that’s what hides behind all that fur? Bloody bones? Oh, I can’t unsee this.

Philip has classified teddy bears into different categories, depending on their features. Some of them are: Amputees, Feeding On Brains, Crawlers, Cannibals, Smashed Skulls, eye popping out, and Shattered Jaws.

The idea to transform lovely teddy bears into creepy ones originates back in 2009 when he and his wife were out to buy a present for a kid. Philip’s wife recommended him to buy a Teddy Bear, but due to a cold she had, the word ‘Teddy Bear’ didn’t come out exactly as she was trying to articulate, and it sounded as ‘Deady Bear.’ No wonder the name of the store is Undead Teds. Like they were once dead but came to life in another form, like zombies.

You may see their face and body is disfigured, but there are still parts of the old, lovely, sweet, and soft teddy bear. You can’t take the teddy bear out of it, zombies!!!

Can’t you at least just put a bandage over those wounds?
