When it comes to the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ series, we can practically divide the world into two categories. There are the ones who bite their nails, waiting for the next movie to come out, re-reading the books over and over again, squeaking at every possible discussion about the story.
And then, there are the ones who roll their eyes, constantly pointing out how low the world has got praising such a disastrous piece of literature, and moreover, letting it turn into a multi-million dollar movie franchise.
But if you cancel out the noise of erotica-enthusiasts, fans, feminists, actual people who are into the BDSM industry and yourself, you have to admit – ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ is a phenomenon. And just another example of a movie who got crucified by critics, yet the hype is still on.
Making $571 million at the box office, the first movie broke records in several categories, including opening weekend for a female directed film. It made millions of people worldwide addicted to the story, and banked enough followers to secure the hype for part two, the trailer of which came out recently and got people back on the excitement and squeaking wagon.
A different director this time, Glengarry Glenn Ross and House of Cards‘s James Foley, which promises a lot and if we rely on expectations based on his previous work, we might even expect somewhat better reviews? Don’t be surprised if Fifty Shades Darker breaks the incredible records of its predecessor. People are losing their minds even now.
One Facebook user said: ‘I can’t wait to watch this..I guess it’s time to reread the series again for maybe the hundredth time. No matter what I won’t get tired of the books.’
While others, albeit fans – are containing their excitement, as another comment said: ‘If it’s bad as the first I will stay with reading the books (that were WAY better!)’.
Half the world is still ready to throw stones at those who say that the books worth even looking at, but the hype created over the sequel trailer makes a pretty good case against them.
Reprising their roles, 27-year old Dakota Johnson and 34-year old Jamie Dornan, get their fans incredibly excited in this one. For those of you who read the book, it’s the elevator scene, and for those of you who have no idea what to expect – you need to see this. It involves the fantasy of many: lingerie taken off in a people-packed public place, and what wants to be a subtle touchy-feely episode in a crowded elevator.
E.L. James’ Fifty Shades Darker will premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday February 2, 2017 at the Ace Hotel theater in Hollywood. Stars of the film Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are expected to attend and we can only imagine who the other important guests will be!
Shall we see what we’re dealing with here?
