How To Get Rid Of Oily Skin Permanently

Having oily skin is not only annoying because of the reflective shine, but it also leads to painful acne breakouts. Since your skin type is affected by genes you cannot really control how much oil your skin produces. However, as much as it produces oil that does not mean that oily skin should be a lifelong plague. What you can do to get rid of it permanently is change the skincare methods. This can help you to keep the oil production under control for good, according to Livestrong.

The things you will need:

Over-the-counter acne cleanser
Alcohol-free toner
Mineral-based sunblock
Oil-free cosmetics and toiletries
Skin blotting papers

Step one you should follow

Bring that over-the-counter medicated acne cleanser and apply it twice a day. Make sure the over-the-counter acne cleanser consists of benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acid, or salicylic acid since using, it will help to break down the excess oil. Make it a habit to wash your face once in the morning and once before bedtime. Before, you might have thought that when your skin is oily you should wash it more often, but, this is not the case. If you wash your face too often this can lead to your skin drying out and overcompensating by producing more oil.

Step two you should follow

In order for your face to remain moisturized what you should apply is alcohol-free toner. This because alcohol is known for causing dryness to your skin. But if the alcohol-free toner you will be using contains ingredients such as witch hazel, it will dry up excess oil.

Step three you should follow

Mineral-based sunblock to the rescue. Using too much moisturizer for your skin can, in fact, lead to oil production. What it is advised for you to do instead is use mineral-based sunblock. If your skin is enough moisturized then you don’t need to use a moisturizer, I mean, what is the point? Using around 1 tsp. of a mineral-based block such as micronized zinc instead is going to help to absorb and protect your skin from sun damage. Do you know what the twist to this is? That, this way you will have a double effect since sun-damaged skin tends to produce more oil.

Step four you should follow

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the products you apply on your skin should be labeled “non-acnegenic” or “non-comedogenic,” which means that are oil-free and are not likely to cause further oily skin problems. The use of oil-free cosmetics and toiletries will help absorbing oil from your skin.

Step five you should follow

Skin blotting papers to the rescue. By using the skin-blotting paper you will absorb facial oil and reduce shine throughout the day without the need to smudge your makeup.

What you need to do now so you can improve your skin condition is start applying these methods and let us know in the comments section whether these worked for your skin since not everyone’s skin is the same. What might work for one’s oily skin, might not be the solution to some other person’s greasy skin. With that said you should keep in mind that before taking any further steps to get rid of the oily skin, you should initially consult your dermatologist.
