How To Be Productive and Recharge at the Same Time

Life gets hectic and it’s with good reason. If you want to get anywhere in life you have to work hard. But sometimes you just don’t have the energy to push any further. Yet time is ticking and deadlines are approaching.

Is it possible to be productive and recharge at the same time? Sure, anything is possible as they say. It’s only a matter of if you want to make it happen. Here are some suggestions that could help you take a breath and still make things happen.

Take a Minute for Yourself

It may seem like this first one is not accomplishing both “recharging” and “productivity” at the same time but it is. Some of our best ideas come up when we take a few minutes. This is understandable. How are you supposed to think of a solution for the shipping issue when you are trying to organize a meeting for another project?

When we take a minute to breathe it clears our head and frees the space for brilliance to appear.

Meditate

Speaking of breathing and clearing your mind, there are few tools as expensive and powerful as meditation. When you learn to control your breath it not only frees up space in your mind, it rids your chest of anxiety, and you gain control of your mind, with practice. If you are able to control your mind and emotions, which are benefits of meditation, productivity will be a breeze.

The way you do this at the same time is to alternate if you need to. If you find that, after an hour of working that you start to let your mind wander stop what you are doing and take a few deep breaths. You’ll find that you can refocus and be more productive.

Do What You Love

Hobbies are wonderful for taking our minds off things that are weighing us down. Take some time to do what you love, be it playing the guitar or quilting on your sewing machine like the ones here at Mostcraft. Ten or twenty minutes of being in your bliss will increase your productivity in other areas of your life.

Accomplishment is an addictive feeling and the emotions that come along with success will become something you want to feel more and more.

Stay Focused While You Relax

I like to put a soothing battle on my acne-prone skin while I read what’s going on in the world of health and beauty since this is what I write about. I like to keep up on the trends other people are talking about. Whatever your business is, there is something on the internet written about it.

If you’re in finance, watch the markets while you use the treadmill. If you’re into real estate take a walk through the neighborhood to see what’s going on in the market. Make use of some of your downtime but be sure to leave some of it free for no thinking at all so that you don’t overload from multitasking.

Get A Good Night’s Sleep

To be productive while you are winding down it is imperative you get the best sleep you can every night. Restless slumber is an essential part of being productive and healthy. It strengthens learning and focus. It also helps us handle our emotions better, which is a critical part of productivity.

Some tips on getting a good night’s sleep are to shut off the devices at least thirty minutes before you go to bed, set a sleep schedule and stick to it, and take a power nap once in a while.

Schedule Your Down Time

Just saying you are going to take time for yourself doesn’t always mean that you will. At least that’s the case for me. If that sounds familiar or something that you do then it’s important that you carve out time in your day to recharge so you can be productive.

This could be a twenty-minute walk around the neighborhood in the morning or ten minutes before lunch to sit and meditate. What you do during your downtime is your own business. The important thing is that you make time for it otherwise it will be easy to find yourself stressed and spinning your wheels.

Stick To The Schedule

Putting something into your calendar is all fine and dandy but if you don’t do it, or push it off to another time or day, then you aren’t sticking to the schedule you set for yourself. Just as it’s important to complete your most pressing task first it’s important to stick to a schedule.

Few tools are more effective in getting things done then the trusty schedule. It will stop you from veering off task and will keep you focused on what is in front of your for the time-slotted. The result will be a more productive day.

Reward Yourself

There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself to a little something special when you finish an important task. This could be a piece of candy or a few minutes of ignoring the phone. Whatever reward means to you, allow yourself to enjoy your successes with something you love.

Conclusion

Attempting to be productive while recharging isn’t easy. In fact, it sounds like an oxymoron. That’s because in some ways it is. When you are meditating, you are not being productive in the moment but it will follow shortly afterward because your mind is clear.
